Birthday Fun

Last night my brother, Ted, and I went to dinner for my birthday. It was great! Really fun! Ted and I have the same sense of humor so it is pretty easy to make each other laugh. One thing that really cracked us both up was when dinner was pretty much over. A couple had just come into the restaurant and I looked at them and told Ted that wouldn’t it be funny to rush over to them and act like I know them? Sort of like:

“Marvin and Lois, it is so good to see you!”

They would stare at me and before they could tell me I was making a mistake, I would go on to say;

“I was so sad to hear about your dog. I would think that he would have won that fight with the cat but clearly that cat was a super beast the way she took out your poor puppy. But at least he is in heaven and enjoying romping and playing. Well, I have to get back to my table. Good to see you!”

I would of course say this really quickly and then walk away.

It would be interesting to see what they would say. Would they come over and say that I was mistaken? Would they just shake their heads and go to their table for dinner? Would it be a major point of discussion for their dinner and maybe, for days to come?

When I explained what my thought was to Ted, he started laughing so hard I thought he would bust something. Of course it would be even more funny if they came by the table and I would get embarrassed and say, “Oh yeah, I forgot, witness protection program. I’m not supposed to acknowledge that you are Marvin and Lois. So sorry!”.

Sometimes I wonder about the strange thoughts that pop into my head. And I wish I had the guts to carry them out…just for the entertainment value. Of course, it isn’t nice to play tricks on people. Even if it would make my brother fall over laughing.
