Last night I started feeling sick. Not much. A little congested, coughing somewhat, maybe slightly feverish. Just felt like I was on the cusp of getting a bad cold. This would be really bad timing because I am celebrating my birthday this weekend. I am going to dinner tonight with my brother and then going to a movie and out to dinner on Sunday with friends. NOT a good weekend to come down with a nasty cold.
Of course, there is the fact that I have a history of developing bronchitis when I get a cold this time of year. And that pretty much knocks me out for days. I’m trying to be positive about this while I suck on cough drops and drink tea (the cure-all for every sickness). After all, I have a strong immune system and it could battle this and make it a minor cold instead of a full-blown case of bronchitis.
So, I sit here and debate what the next week or so will look like. I could be over this by tomorrow and feel fine. Or I could spend the next 10 days feeling lousy and miserable and coughing and sneezing and feeling just plain ucky. It’s hard to plan ahead when the possibility of an illness looms. One good thing is that I thought that next weekend was our monthly bean supper and I was thinking that it would be a bad time to be sick since I spear head that event. But that isn’t for two weeks so I have time to recover if I actually do get sick.
It’s time for another cough drop and more tea. And to pray that this passes quickly and doesn’t disrupt my life.
