Do you think that when God was creating the world, he just took his finger and ran it through this valley to create this river?
When he created a mountain, did he push the rocks and soil around until it was just the right height and shape?
When he made the flowers, did he gently dye the petals so they would just be the perfect shade of loveliness?
When God created all of nature, was he doing it with might and power or was he humming and singing to himself as he formed creation?
Up until today, in my mind, when the world was made, God did it with a wave of his powerful hand and with strength and might. But, now that I think about it, when I am creating something, I tend to hum or sing along with music and do it with thoughtfulness and joy. Since I am made in God’s image (as is everyone), I would think that he must have created the world with grace and dignity, enjoying every moment of inspiration and humming along with all the angels’ singing.
Next time you admire a beautiful vista or ponder the heart of a flower, try to think about God creating it. And think about the gentleness and care he took. And then be filled with his peace. As he intended.
