Squabbling

The squabbling is continuing in Washington. Back and forth.

“I know what is best for the nation”

“NO, I know what is best for the nation”

“No you don’t, I do”

“No, I do”

“Your plan will destroy this nation”

“No, your plan will destroy this nation”

You know what I say? SHUT UP!!! ALL OF YOU!! SHUT UP!!

Both sides are acting like little children. Everyone can see it.

SHUT UP! Do your job. Compromise. Neither side is going to get everything they want. So there HAS to be compromise.

What really worries me is that it seems like the Republicans are caving to the Tea Partiers. And, as enthusiastic and patriotic as that group may be, they are new to this governing thing. They are new to what it means to lead this country. They don’t know what is best. It is like the adults are letting the over enthusiastic teenagers run this country. I think that all the freshmen members of Congress should sit down and let more seasoned leaders lead.

It is a scary time in this country. Scary and really embarrassing. We are supposedly the greatest nation on earth and the rest of the world is seeing our government act like squabbling children. That is just so sad.

I think we need to make a comprehensive list of everyone who is causing this situation to continue and fester. Then, next election day, vote these children out of office.  Send them home for a HUGE time out. Maybe someday when they grow up and learn to be more reasonable, we might let them be our leaders again.  But, until they learn, they need to be quiet, stay home and write a 5,000 word essay on what it means to compromise.

The one thing I am hopeful about is that our nation has come through much worse situations and we have survived. And we will survive this. Maybe battered and bruised but we will come through it. I have hope and faith.
