Thoughts about what I wanted to buy everyone for Christmas passed into my mind for the past few months and then passed right out again. Most years I make a list, check it twice, etc. Actually I check it several times but I couldn’t resist writing “check it twice”. I always like to get just the right gift for each recipient.
This year I just didn’t seem to dwell on it. I figured that I would get gifts for people as the need would arise.
For instance, I needed gifts for my friends for this past Monday night since that is when we decided to get together to celebrate Christmas. I had a notion as to what I wanted to get them but it wasn’t set it in stone. So Saturday morning, I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and found just the right presents for everyone.
Today I had a vague notion as to what to get my nieces and nephew and my sister and brother-in-law. But it wasn’t a firm notion so I went off shopping with my sister with an open mind and ready for whatever I could find. I think, all in all, I found great gifts for everyone. I would list them here but there is a small chance that one or all of them might read this and then the surprise would be spoiled. I will try to remember to post the list after Christmas.
My next set of presents will be for my brother Ted. Again, I do know what I want to get him and am hoping I can find the presents I want and purchase them. But I’m not going to stress about it. What happens, happens. Besides with, since Ted and I aren’t celebrating Christmas until New Year’s Day, I can take advantage of the after Christmas sales to purchase his gifts.
The next major task, in the countdown to Christmas is to wrap the presents. My sister and I are planning on doing that after dinner tonight. I also need to send out Christmas cards and am hoping to do that tomorrow. But, then again, the big annual caroling party is tomorrow night and my sister needs help preparing for that. So the Christmas cards may have to wait. That isn’t a big deal because I hold true to the 12 days of Christmas, which is Christmas Day to Epiphany. So I have plenty of time to send them out.
Less than three days to Christmas!!! I can hardly wait!!!
