BAT

I have a bat in my apartment!

My cats have been hanging out by a box of cookbooks I have in the corner of my living room all evening.  (I am planning on donating the cookbooks to a library – they are cookbooks I have never used – I have 30 other cookbooks that I do consult on occasion- end of sidebar).  I heard something fluttering in the box but I really didn’t want to disturb it in case it was something creepy.  And it was.

All of a sudden a bat flew out and started flying silently around the apartment.  I crouched low in my chair and tried to duck anytime it came by.  I swore at it a few times but I don’t think it cared.  It finally has settled in close to the ceiling above my TV.

I have called the dispatch for the police and asked them to send someone over to get rid of the bat but no one has come yet.  I didn’t call 911 because it really isn’t an emergency.  After all, it is only a little bat and probably is more scared of me than I am of it.  Although I am pretty scared of it so I would rather the police come and dispose of it.

So here I am…10:15 at night….waiting on the police and keeping an eye on a bat. Did I mention that I HATE BATS????  YUCK!!!!

PS: It is 10:50 pm.  The police just left.  Two policemen (very cute policemen, I must say) came by and one had a net.  He placed the net over the bat and the other one used his baton to push the bat into the net.  They carefully carried it outside and let it go.  At first it crawled around on the ground and the officers thought it was hurt but after a few seconds, it took off flying.  They both ducked and which made all three of us laugh.  I’m glad I’m not the only one who ducks when a bat flies.  I thanked the two very nice cute officers and they wished me a good night.  So I wish everyone a good night because I need to go to bed.

Oh…I think I am going to by a net, like a butterfly net, so the next time I can dispose of it myself.  Although I would really prefer there not be a next time.  Because, as I have mentioned it….I HATE BATS!!!
