Snow Day!

Today is a snow day!  We were supposed to get a minor amount of snow (3-5 inches) last night but it started snowing and didn’t stop until about an hour ago.  We have received at least 10 inches.  Luckily it isn’t a heavy wet snow but still, pretty messy.

I was coordinating calls this morning with everyone from work.  As office manager, that is part of my job.  At first my boss said for everyone to dig themselves out and get there as soon as they could, maybe by 9:00 or 10:00.  So I went out, shoveled snow and cleaned off my van.  I had a blood test so, either way, I was going out.  As I was trying to get my van out of the parking spot, my boss called.  He asked how bad it was and I told him it looked pretty snow packed and nasty.  He asked if I thought he should just cancel work for the day.  I said it was his decision but it is a holiday, not much going on and it would be ashame for someone to get in an accident trying to get to work but ultimately it was his decision.  He agreed with me and asked me to call everyone to tell them it was a snow day. So I did.

It has been nice to have an extra day off.  I did go for my blood test and the roads were really bad.  But I have been home the rest of the day and was able to get caught up on some church website stuff and, of course, post to my blog.  Now that I have finished that, I think I will make a cup of tea and watch a movie.  For all those people who don’t like snow and live in a climate where the temperature is the same always….you don’t experience the luxury of snow days.  Of course, having a boss that lets us have snow days is a huge luxury too.  Blessings all the way around!
