Olympic Thoughts

I just have a few thoughts on the Olympics that I want to share tonight:

– There are certain sports I have seen where I don’t understand the rules therefore I don’t understand why some of the athletes are doing well and the others are not. Rather than the commentators spending time interviewing the athletes and asking questions like “What did it feel like when you finally won the gold medal????”, it would be better to spend some time explaining to us the rules of the events so we know why they won the gold medal. Besides which, it is blatantly obvious how it feels to win the gold medal and they all say pretty much the say thing…keeping in mind that they are on TV and can’t say words that are considered bad but would so aptly describe how they are feeling.

– Watching the bike racing right now where the riders have the bikes with the black rear wheels. I am confused as to why they start so slow and I think that the Bolt, The Fastest Man Alive would have passed them several times if he was racing them and they would eat his dust!

– Also, who thought of this kind of bike racing??? When did bike racing start involving a slanted track indoors? Very confusing.

– Speaking of Bolt, The Fastest Man Alive…did you hear that he runs 27 miles per hour??? That is absolutely amazing!!! He would get a ticket if he ran down my street because the speed limit is only 25 miles per hour. Amazing!!!

– I love the diving, swimming, gymnastics, and track & field the most. There may be others but those are the ones that come to the front of my brain right now.

– Some sports that I don’t think should be Olympic sports – beach volleyball (there is already the other kind of volleyball – why do we need both?), equestrian events (it’s the horse that is doing most of the work – horses aren’t human), and basketball (because basketball already has a sports venue – the NBA – and they don’t need the Olympics to be the top of the sport since they have the playoffs and championship each year).

That is all for now. I’ll try to be more diligent about writing about the Olympics from now until the end of the 2012 games. But for now….WOW….did you just see that dive????
