Today’s Thoughts (8/20/09)

It is the end of the day but the mind is still working so I thought I would jot down a few thoughts:

– I just noticed that my new Band-Aid box has braille on it.  Not sure what it says, since I don’t read braille but I can guess that it says Band-Aid.  Then again it might say “Oops, that must have hurt!!”.

– Just read an interesting item in a book I’m reading about conversation.  The difference between sharing memories and sharing the present and thus, part of your soul. Clearly this requires a much longer post so this is kind of a preview of a future post about living in the present.

– My sister asked me today if I have noticed that the level of incompetency seems to be rising as of late.  I said that I thought it was just happening to me.  But in dealing with the big company move this week and dealing with moving services, I can say that people seem very complac…compla….uhmm…..what is that word???……ok, people seem to not really care (sorry, Porky Pig moment there).  It’s like they really screw up and saying “I’m sorry” is going to fix it and make it all better when if they just did their jobs, they wouldn’t have screwed up and wouldn’t have to say “I’m sorry”.  Actually that can be a longer post too so maybe I’ll expand on that in the future.  The part about “I’m sorry” not fixing things…not the Porky Pig moment. Then again, that would be a funny post.

– The meteorologists on TV can’t make-up their minds whether or not Hurricane Bill is going to hit New England or just cause really good surf.  Yet the DJ on the radio this afternoon said definitively that the hurricane will miss us this weekend and didn’t we luck out.  Yeah, he’s an expert.  I think I’ll stick with the people who actually have a degree in meteorology.

I think that is all for tonight.  Time to think about bed…
