Boating IV

My brother and I went boating tonight! Yeah!!

I mentioned in the Boating III posting that it might have been the last time we went boating this season. But it rained some and the water level rose a little and we were able to go out tonight.

It still is pretty shallow in the culvert. We both held our breath as we approached it and hoped we weren’t going to slam into the floor of the culvert. But we went through just fine. It was close. Ted rocked the boat at one point in the culvert and we touched bottom. We had only about two inches to spare. Luckily that two inches was enough and we made it through from the pond to the lake.

For a while, when we were setting out, it looked like the weather wouldn’t let us go boating tonight. This cloud caused us some concern:

This is what it looked like facing the other direction:

So we decided to venture forth despite the threatening clouds.

It wasn’t too bad. We only had to deal with sprinkles for about five minutes or so.  Enough rain coming down to be annoying but not enough to ruin the boat ride. And no thunder or lightening, which, for me, was a bigger concern.

Here are more pictures of the threatening skies:

Here is a nice picture of the lake looking back behind the boat (one of my favorite pictures to try to take):

And here is a sign that the lake level has dropped…new growth:

These are the yellow flowers with the new growth:

All in all it was a lovely boat ride. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, it won’t be the last one of the season. I would love to be able to post fall colors on the lake. That would be wonderful!
