Boating!

My brother and I finally made it out on the water tonight.  Finally!

The weather was beautiful. Not too hot, not at all chilly…temperatures in the 70’s. Sky was brilliant blue with a few fluffy clouds, the water was glass smooth in some places and only a little choppy out in the middle of the lake. I think the choppiness was mostly caused by other boats. Not that there were a lot of other boats out there but enough were speeding up and down the lake to cause waves.

I found it interesting the number of houses on the lake shore that didn’t have their boats in the water or even their docks set up. If I lived on the water, I would get my dock in the water as quickly as possible in the spring and my boat ready to go at the first moment of great weather.

Then again, if you are blessed with certain amenities in life, you tend to take them for granted. For instance, when I was in Europe in college, by the middle of the year I became completely complacent about where I was living. The thrill of living in a foreign country had worn off and everything that I had found to be unique and exciting had become commonplace to the point where I just wanted the tourists to stay out of my way so I could get where I was going. “Yes, that building is over 400 years old but I have places to go so step aside!” Not that I ever said that but I was thinking it.

Anyway, I took a few pictures and have posted them on Facebook but I wanted to post them here as well for those people I know who aren’t on Facebook.

We only made it out on the water once last year.  This year we are hoping for many, many more boat rides. It is a great way to spend a late afternoon and evening!
