Today’s Thoughts (8/4/10)

Here are some thoughts for a Wednesday:

–        We have lost almost an hour of sunlight.  So sad.  The sun now sets at 8:01 pm.  Oh well.  There is still plenty of sunshine all day long and by 8:00, I am ready for it to be dark and to relax for the evening.  Of course, where my sister lives in western Michigan, it is still light until 9:30 or so.  We are both in the Eastern Time Zone but I am on the far east of the zone and my sister is on the western edge so the sun rises an hour later and sets an hour later where she lives.  Frankly I think New England should be in the Atlantic Time Zone but every time someone proposes that, it gets shot down.  Not sure why.  I guess we need to think up a good argument for it.  I’ll work on that…in my spare time.

–        The cheesecake was a HUGE hit at work.  Everyone loved it, even those people who say they don’t like cheesecake.  I’m so glad.  After the water bath incident (see Pesto and Blackberries posting), I am pleased it turned out so well.

–        Here’s something that has been puzzling me: A suggestion, by definition is something one offers for consideration.  A command, by definition is to direct authoritatively or to order.  So why is it when someone supposedly is making a suggestion as to how something should be, why do they get upset when that suggestion is not followed? If you thank them for the suggestion but inform them that it won’t be done that way, they get upset and want to know why.  Was it is a suggestion or was it an order?  Or is this just a personality quirk of certain people that they think that their suggestions should always be followed?  As I said, it is puzzling me.  As many of people’s strange personality quirks puzzle me.

I think that is all for a Wednesday morning.  Three more working days and then I have vacation!!  Not that I am counting.  Ok, I am counting.  Every minute of every day.
