Here are just a few comments on items that have been in the news recently:
– About the mother who ran off with another guy thus abandoning her husband and baby – she staged it as a possible abduction because it was against her religious beliefs to leave her husband. But it wasn’t against her religious beliefs to lie and cause everyone such stress and worry? What kind of religious beliefs are these??
– About the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico – all of these brilliant minds who created these oil rigs and figure out how to pump oil from under the sea floor didn’t think that maybe, just maybe, there might be a possibility that a rig could sink and they might need a contingency plan to prevent oil from spilling out and contaminating everything? Things go wrong. That is the nature of the world. Shouldn’t they have planned for this and have had several back-up plans rather than some valve that may not work? Shouldn’t they have had this huge box already built and standing by in case something happened? Seems like it was very poor planning on their parts and they should be held accountable for this. Not that they won’t be but sometimes big corporations, with all their lawyers, can get away with things. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen in this case.
– About the Times Square Terrorist – not the most brilliant terrorist in the world. After all, he didn’t know that the VIN number for the vehicle was on the engine block, he bought a pre-paid cell phone that could be traced back to him and, here’s the kicker, he left his house and car keys in the SUV! Brilliant! Of course, this is all good for us. If he had been any good at it, many people would have been killed or hurt. So it’s good that he was very, very bad at this. Let’s hope all potential terrorists are very, very bad at it. And, in case they aren’t very, very bad, let’s stay alert and take note of things that are out of the ordinary. Let’s not be so involved in our own lives that we don’t notice the world around us. The guy who alerted the police really should be commended for stepping outside of his own concerns and noticing that something was not right with that SUV. Everyone should be that alert and concerned.
There were a couple of other stories in the news recently but I will save those comments for another day. One of the stories I want to comment on is about all the topless demonstrations going on in Maine. That deserves a posting all in itself. There…something to look forward to!
