Today’s Thoughts (1/26/10)

A few thoughts at the end of Tuesday (it’s only Tuesday???):

– Just took a quick run over to the office at 9:30 at night.  The cleaning lady had called and said she couldn’t get the alarm set.  I think it is because she had the door open while trying to set it.  Can’t do that.  When I was on the phone with her, she managed to set it and leave the building. After thinking about it, I decided to drive over and check on it just to be sure it was securely locked.  It was.  But it gave me peace of mind…not to mention it is my responsibility to make sure the building is secure. That is what my boss says.  Although I think he should get me some pepper spray or a taser for when I have to go check the building when the alarm goes off in the middle of the night.  Just a thought.

– I watched the telethon for Haiti last Friday night.  It was really good.  The stories that were told were poignant and really touched my heart.  I was thinking about calling in to donate but then I noticed that it was all celebrities answering the phones and they were even airing some of the calls.  I am not one to do the gushing fan thing not to mention that I may end up speaking to someone and not really know who they are or why they are famous.  So I just went on=line and donated.  Was easier that way.  Saved the embarrassment of saying “who am I speaking to?  Oh…ok”.  I was wondering if anyone else felt that way so I have been asking people.  Out of the four or five people I have talked to, two have said the same thing.  Didn’t call in because they didn’t want to have to speak to a celebrity.  Interesting…something that was supposed to be a big selling point may just have been a deterrent for some people.  At least there is the on-line option.  And the website was very well laid out and easy to understand.  May have to donate again in a month or so.

– Speaking of Haiti, they pulled someone else alive out of the rubble today.  Two weeks after the earthquake.  I hope that if there is anyone else alive, they find them quickly.  I know things have to be cleaned up but as long as they are pulling people out alive, there is hope and they should keep up the search and rescue.

– Two things are happening at the end of the week: I am getting my hair done Thursday night (yeah!!).  Looking forward to it! Second thing, I am going to see Torture Guy on Friday (boo).  NOT looking forward to it.  To clarify, Torture Guy is also known as the dentist.  My brother thinks I should tell the dentist that I refer to him as Torture Guy. I’m thinking that it would be a bad thing to insult the guy who is about to put sharp instruments in my mouth.  So I’ll be good and say only nice things while Torture Guy works on my teeth.  I should say that my dentist is very nice and treats me well.  I call him Torture Guy because I hate to go to the dentist.  Any dentist.  Doesn’t’ matter who they are or how nice they are…they don’t stand a chance with me.  Just really hate it.  But it is a necessary evil in life.  Oh well.
