Thankfulness: Day 4

Today I am thankful for my big brother, Ted. He and I are only 18 months apart in age and, for the most part, have always been close. He is smart, caring and funny…always finds a way to make me laugh. And he laughs at my jokes. I am grateful to have him for a brother.

I’m not sure what else to write about Ted. He and I are very close. We talk on the phone every night when we are both available to do so. What do we talk about? Everything and nothing. We share our days, conversations we had that were interesting to us, events in the news, memories, etc. We enjoy talking to each other and do it as often as possible.

About our closeness in age…Mom and Dad deliberately tried to have me as close after having Ted as they possibly could. He was born in July and I was born a year and a half later in February. They wanted us to grow up together and be there for each other. They didn’t know I was going to be a girl nor did they know that our other two siblings would someday come along. They just wanted Ted and his younger sibling to have a close childhood and continue that closeness into adulthood. And it worked. Because we have been and still are and, God willing, will always be.

I am thankful to God for my big brother, Ted. He is a true blessing in my life and for that I am so grateful.
