As has been well reported, according to the Mayan calendar, tomorrow is the end of the world. I, of course, have a few thoughts on this:
– For those of us who believe in the Bible or at least what Jesus said in the Gospels, we don’t know when the end of the world is coming. JESUS doesn’t even know when the end of the world is coming and his dad is God! So, that disproves the whole end of the world scare going on right now.
– Maybe people have misinterpreted the Mayan calendar. I just heard on the news that an expert on this said that the calendar just shows the end of a cycle, not the end of the world. Sort of like a Mayan New Year. Now I’m not sure how Mayans celebrate their new year but I find that champagne, balloons and confetti are always tasteful. I also like the idea of singing songs and watching other people dance (since I don’t dance). Either way, a celebration appears to be in order if you are to believe that expert on the Mayan calendar.
– Here’s a thought. Maybe the Mayans who were making the calendar just ran out of room. Then, as the joke goes, one Mayan says to the other Mayan “this is really going to mess with people someday!”.
– If you are planning anything for this supposed end of the world, why bother? If the world ends, your plans mean nothing. Frankly, if I feel like the end of the world was coming, and I don’t, then I would stand on a mountain top and raise my arms to heaven and say “here I am, Lord! take me home!!”. Any other action is rather pointless.
All in all, tomorrow is nothing more than Friday, December 21, 2012. The next day will be Saturday, December 22, 2012. And so on and so forth.
Actually one exciting thing about tomorrow is that it is the winter solstice. That means that after tomorrow, the days start getting longer and we have more sunlight and we are one season away from spring! Now THERE is something to celebrate!!
