Saw something interesting when I was out and about this morning. I was driving down to church and off in the distance, I saw six planes flying in formation. A larger plane flanked by five smaller planes. They were heading out towards the ocean.
My first thought was that some plane was wandering into the no-fly zone and the smaller planes were trying to escort it away.
Did I mention that there is a no-fly zone over Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport, ME? That is because it is the summer residence of the Bush’s (both the first President Bush and the second President Bush) and planes aren’t allowed near the compound.
But I noticed that the planes flying in formation looked a little older and not at all like modern day fighter jets.
When I arrived at church, I was getting out of my vehicle and I heard a tremendous roar overhead. Looking up I saw the same planes flying in formation directly overhead. Definitely not modern aircraft.
I mentioned this to a fellow church member at the church office and he said maybe they were WWII planes. I could see that. They looked like they were from that era.
Later in the day a friend shared a photo on Facebook that showed the planes flying over Walker’s Point. Turns out that a very wealthy Texan paid for the flyover to honor the first President Bush. A nice gesture….hope that it brought back good memories for the former President.
