Well the mystery of the roasters has been solved!
I was at the Worship Committee meeting this evening and, at the end of the meeting, I mentioned to someone who I had thought bought the roasters (who, in turn, thought I had bought them) that we still didn’t know where they had come from and someone else (let’s call her “Lynn”) on the committee overheard me. “Lynn” then said that SHE had bought the roasters! Completely shocked me! Out of all the people I was thinking about who could have bought them, her name didn’t even pop into my head.
I thanked her and told her it never occurred to me to ask her if she had bought them. She said that she had heard me say that I needed them so she went to Kohl’s and bought them and dropped them off at church. “Lynn” said she had meant to tell me on Sunday, January 2nd, but I had left early and she didn’t get a chance to talk to me (that was the Sunday I was in at the beginning of my illness).
I thanked her again and then told her about the damage to the one roaster. She said that it definitely needed to be returned and we arranged to inspect both of the roasters this Sunday and make sure the other one was ok. “Lynn” will return one, or both, of them and get replacements.
I asked her if she wanted me to reimburse her and she said they are a gift to the church. How sweet!!
So, in this public forum, THANK YOU, “LYNN”, FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATION AND FOR TAKING THE INITIATIVE! Kind people like you give me faith in all mankind!
