Christmas is officially over. I have de-Christmas-fied my apartment. Took all the ornaments off the tree and carefully wrapped them in tissue before placing them in their plastic box for the year. Unplugged the tree in sections and shoved it every so gracefully into it’s box and then taped it tightly shut. Wrapped my nativity sets in either tissue or bubble wrap and put them in their respective boxes. Collected all the Christmas figures from around the apartment and put them away. Took down the wreaths and put them in the wreath box.
The whole process took about an hour. Now the furniture is back in it’s normal location and the place looks larger but emptier.
I miss Christmas. I love everything about it. The decorating right after Thanksgiving, the baking, shopping, cards, parties and gift giving. For me there isn’t anything negative that could dampen my Christmas spirit.
Even traveling this year wasn’t bad. I missed the bad weather flying out to Michigan and coming back. The weather wasn’t bad while I was in Michigan. I didn’t have to do the full body scan at any of the airports (Portland and Grand Rapids don’t have the full body scans yet) and no one patted me down. My luggage arrived where it was supposed to and so did I.
All in all, it was a wonderful Christmas season that went by WAY to quickly. But, according to my calculations, it is 321 days until I can re-Christmas-fy. I can hardly wait!!
