1111

Today is January 1, 2011.  Or 1/1/11.

I’m thinking that has got to be a lucky series of numbers.  And I’m sure they are making notes of babies that are born at 11:11 am and pm. If the baby also weighs 11 pounds, that would be even luckier!

I love symmetry in numbers. When the date is a series of numbers like 1/2/34 or 3/4/56, etc.  Or when an address is a sequence of numbers so it is easy to remember.  Or a phone number contains many digits of the same number.  An example of that, which I remember to this day, was the phone number for my sister’s best friend when we lived in Detroit.  Their number was 855-8555*.  What a cool phone number!

If you are lucky enough to be born on such a day, congratulations!  I hope that your birthdate will be your lucky number throughout your life. And if you bet 1111 on this the first day of January, 2011, then don’t forget to report your winnings to the IRS!  Just a gentle reminder.

*I feel safe publishing that phone number because it was from over 30 years ago and I’m sure it isn’t in service anymore.  After all, my sister’s friend moved to New Orleans decades ago and that number is probably used for a dry cleaner to for the time and temperature. Or, wouldn’t this be an odd coincidence, maybe it is the number you can call to place a bet with a bookie. Wouldn’t that just be the strangest thing.  Hmmm….makes me want to try to call it!
