Conversations

I spent today having great conversations.  I had church this morning (as usual) and talked with a number of my fellow church members.  Catching up on their lives, sharing what has been happening in my life, and, sometimes, just simply discussing the beautiful fall weather.

After church, I went to the store to buy a birthday present for a friend and ended up talking with the gentleman behind the counter when I was paying for my purchase and wrapping it up (I undid the tissue paper package there at the counter, removed all the price tags and “wrapped” the present in a gift bag).  He, the clerk, was telling me all about his recent trip to Aruba and his son’s wedding which, of course, led to everyone’s favorite travel discussion…airport security.  Nice that we all have that in common now, isn’t it?

Next I stopped at the grocery store to buy the things needed for the Sunday supper and ran into another member of my church.  I chatted with her a few minutes and got caught up on her life.

The next stop was a friend’s house.  I sat and visited with her while she prepared our Sunday supper and waited for our other friend to show up.  After she arrived, we enjoyed a wonderful birthday meal with my friend’s daughters.  Then the girls went off to hang out together and my friends and I sat in the living room and chatted.  And chatted and chatted.

We had discussed watching a movie but we ended up spending the afternoon talking.  We never ran out of conversation.  There wasn’t a single dull moment or uncomfortable lull in the discussion.  We bounced from one subject to the next with ease.  It was a wonderful afternoon of tea, cake and conversation.

After I arrived home, I ended up having an e-mail “discussion” with my brother until just a few minutes ago.  We usually talk on Sunday nights but I didn’t get home in time so we just went back and forth with e-mails for a couple of hours.

All in all, it was an absolutely delightful day of great conversation.  As I have mentioned before, I really enjoy a good conversation and today was full of them.  The kinds of conversations that make you smile, fill your heart and satisfy your soul.  A blessed day…conversation wise.
