Today’s Thoughts (3/15/12)

A few thoughts for the Ides of March:

  • Today is the Ides of March. No, I’m not referring to the movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1124035/) but the date on the calendar. The word “ides” is from the Latin “idus” and was used by the Romans to indicate the day in the middle of the month. But, it is also the anniversary of the killing of Julius Caesar in 44 BC when he was stabbed 23 times on the floor of the Roman Senate. In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Caesar is warned by a soothsayer to “beware the Ides of March”. He didn’t and look what happened!
  • Ok, that isn’t the greatest thing to think about today. Why not think about the beautiful weather? It is GORGEOUS outside!!  Hard to believe that it is still technically speaking winter because it feels like summer. I’m trying to enjoy this wonder and not think that it is a sign we are destroying our planet. Maybe I should go back to thinking about the Ides of March????
  • Ok…next thought…St. Patrick’s Day is this Saturday. Although I might have a micro amount of Irish blood in me from a far distant ancestor, people think it is my holiday because of my red hair. I usually fail to tell them I’m not a natural red head. Why spoil the fun?
  • One final thought for today…next week is my one year anniversary of the end of my job. But, that might be a more depressing thought than global warming or Caesar being stabbed so let’s save further comment on that until next week.

I guess that is all for this, the 15th day of March, 2012. Stay well and happy and try to think good thoughts!
